The Boys is in its final season on Amazon Prime Video. Before the series wraps up, there's never been a better time to go back to the comics that started it all — because Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's original run is significantly darker, stranger, and more uncompromising than anything the show has put on screen. The comics vs. the show
The Boys was originally published by DC/WildStorm (2006–2008) before moving to Dynamite Entertainment (2008–2012) for its 72-issue run plus specials. Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson created the series as a deliberate provocation: a world where superheroes are corporate assets managed by a conglomerate called Vought International, and a CIA black-ops unit exists specifically to keep them in check. The show has adapted the premise faithfully while significantly softening the source material. The comics go considerably further. Source: Dynamite Entertainment official.

The secondary market angle
