Why this matters
When Robert Kirkman launched Invincible in 2003, it became the definitive independent superhero comic of its era — running for 144 issues, spawning a critically acclaimed Amazon animated series, and influencing an entire generation of comics. Kirkman stepping back into original superhero territory — co-writing with Casey, with three of the most celebrated artists in mainstream comics — is the kind of creative assembly that generates genuine collector interest independent of any media announcement. 30 variants on a first issue is a strong publisher signal of anticipated demand.
