Marvel has confirmed the mystery it's been teasing all month: Miracleman is the sixth and final member of Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto's new Avengers lineup, launching in Avengers #1 on November 4.
How we got here
At the end of Avengers: Armageddon #4, David Colton — introduced during Zdarsky's Captain America run as a modern-day, 9/11-era Captain America stand-in — was critically injured by Red Hulk's enhanced abilities. A voice guided him to speak the word "Kimota," transforming him into an all-new Miracleman with Superman-level strength, flight, and invulnerability. Armageddon #5 wraps that story October 21, setting up the new team directly.
The lineup
Colton's Miracleman joins Captain Marvel, Spider-Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, and Luke Cage on the roster. The finalized main cover now shows all six characters together, alongside a wave of newly revealed variant covers.
Covers worth knowing about
- New variants from Alan Davis (whose history with Miracleman dates back decades), Artgerm, Skottie Young, Jim Cheung, and Julian Totino Tedesco
- The complete version of Kaare Andrews' wraparound cover, now with Miracleman included
- A Mark Spears Display Box Exclusive Variant, available only inside Avengers #1 True Believers Display Boxes (20 copies per box, one guaranteed Spears variant per box)
- Several covers are True Believers Blind Bag exclusives — not available through regular ordering
Worth knowing
Reaction from comics press has been mixed — some outlets have called the choice to make a legacy Captain America character into Miracleman "confusing at best," while others are simply curious to see how Zdarsky handles it. Either way, it's a genuinely unusual way to build out a flagship Avengers roster.
